Deck the Walls with Style by Natty

This weekend my wife's aunt Natalie came to visit from Hartford. She's an actress with a flair for interior decorating, so she came to help us arrange stuff -- specifically, job one was to help us finally hang things on the wall. Back in the apartment, we had the walls filled to capacity and still more framed artwork and photos wrapped up in the spare room. When we moved everything was stacked in our sunroom, and then we inherited even more stuff from my in-laws. Considering we don't have much for interior walls downstairs, I thought for sure we were not going to have enough wall space.

We laid everything out for Natty and then while I cooked she went to work placing things. After we approved positioning (I don't think we vetoed a single thing), she went to town with the hammer. It was a long night of intermittent eating, drinking and hanging. By 2:00am about 80% of the stuff was hung, and the rest was finished Sunday. The results are terrific -- everything is hung and we have lots of room to spare for future acquisitions. All my Ottoman Empire maps and artifacts (yeah, eBay detritus, but still cool stuff) ended up in the dining room, which I'm very happy with, and ties in nicely with our recently-inherited rugs.

It's neat having things on the wall. After 6 months, it makes it feel like a brand new house all over again.
