Bolognese and Anise

A couple weekends back I made Fettuccine with Bolognese Sauce from Food & Wine magazine. Bolognese sauce is one of my wife's favorites, in particular the sauce from Ristorante Farfalla in Florida, which we obviously don't get to eat at too often. I'm always looking for Bolognese recipes to try, although they usually end up disappointing. This one was pretty good and might be a good enough substitute. We'll definitely try it again.

For dessert I tried Star Anise Blackberries with Lemon Sorbet from 30-Minute Meals. This struck me as something very interesting and I've been anxious to try it for a while. First challenge: finding Star Anise; Second challenge: finding decent blackberries. I thought it tasted great, and especially appreciated how unique it was -- this was just not a mix of flavors you'd expect. My wife ate it but was less enthusiastic -- but then she has a strong dislike of anything with that "licorice smell" (as I've recently discovered).
