We tried this wine Friday night at home. It's a red wine blend from Broja, Spain, but I can't seem to determine whether "Borsao" is the vineyard or the name of the blend, and I couldn't find any info on the web about it (although I found something on the 1998 here). In any case, I think it was about $7, and for that price we thought it was a pretty good wine; very smooth, with no surprises, but nothing that made it particulary standout either.
Boraso is the variety of grape and we also found this wine to be smooth.
Lisa is incorrect. The name of the winery is Agricola de Borja, the proprietary name is Borsao, the D.O. (appelation) is Campo de Borja. The grape varietals are 75% Garnacha (Grenache) and 25% Tempranillo.
I buy Borsao Campo de Borja for $4.50 a bottle in Orange County, CA. Awesome stuff for the price, I usually split a case purchase with a friend.
Who is the distributor in the uS?? Florida??
Regardless of the price, I absolutely loved this wine. It is one of my favorites. My boyfriend works at a restaurant with one of the top wine list in NJ. The restaurant has won awards for it. He brought in a bottle of Borsao, and all of the employees loved it, and are splitting cases with us. And they know their wine!
