Pretty weird or Zero will attend.

I got something in the mail today addressed to Mr. & Mrs. and didn't recognize the name so figured it must be for PW. PW looked at it and didn't recognize the name either.

I opened it up and it is a wedding invitation for BW's, first cousin's, daughter. I've met him once, maybe twice, and if I met the daughter she was just a kid. The kicker is that the wedding is in NC and on July 19th!

I'm not sure what the etiquette is for wedding invites but I feel like they had some extra printed and figured they'd send them to the out-of-towners and hope for at least a gift.

Would you want to know or Planning is your right.

I read an interesting article that has the title Most cancer doctors avoid saying it's the end."

Basically, if you had cancer that wasn't responding to any treatment, and your condition was terminal would you want to be told to prepare for the end?

When BW had her last visit the doctor spoke about 'some spots' and his concern about fluid in her lungs and around her heart. He discussed setting up appointments to take care of that but it all sounded a bit strange to me.

He asked me to drive the car around to the stairwell entrance because the elevators were broken (what a fun day THAT was) and I had to carry BW down and put her into the car. When I went down he followed me and let me know that her condition was terminal and that I needed to prepare myself.

Once we got home I told BW about the conversation because we both agreed to not ever keep the other one in the dark about something like this. She took the information and did what she wanted to with it: visited with friends and loved ones, divided up her jewelry among the kids, wrote letters to me and the kids, and then prepared to die with as much dignity as possible.

I would want to know and I'd expect my doctor to be frank and truthful if it was the case. How about you?

Cooking with Emeril or Time to try some new stuff.

I've been doing a lot of cooking lately but nothing really new or exciting. Then, I started to watch Emeril Live! and that all changed. Suddenly, there were new recipes to try and stuff that fit into the "I can do that" category.

First I made some Kickin' Chili followed by the Kickin' Chili Tamale Pie.

The Chili recipe was from his episode where you got two meals from one base recipe and he was right. We had plenty of chili for both meals and we had them during the last couple of cool days we had before the hot weather hit. The chili had a lot of interesting ingredients (four bottles of dark beer!) but had a nice flavor and kick to it.

The other night I decided to make something lighter just because of the hot and humid weather we were having and went with the Taragon Chicken Salad. That meal also left us with enough leftovers for lunch the next day and it tasted awesome!

Both PW and myself enjoy watching his show and since he's been on the air for years we have plenty to watch without hitting any repeats!

Progress or Fingers crossed.

There is still some stuff in the garage but the entire old house is empty, cleaned, and ready for the market. I'll tackle the garage when we got done with this 90+ degree weather. I went over today for around 15 minutes to install a new front door handle and was soaked with sweat in minutes...from turning a screwdriver!

Why a new door handle? Because we can't find a key for the front door! We never locked the doors and somehow all the spare keys I had are nowhere to be found. *sigh*

Now we have to wait for lookers that will hopefully make an offer and then a walk-through by a building inspector that isn't going to find anything significantly wrong. That's the reason for the finger crossing.
