I mowed the lawn on Saturday and been in pain ever since then because of it. I guess doing that two months after shoulder surgery isn't a good idea. I have an acupuncture appointment tonight so hopefully that will ease the pain a bit for me and I can avoid taking another pain pill tonight!
I've asked Son to see if he can enlist the aid of a friend and move some furniture for me this weekend since I'm still not 100% with the shoulder. I think moving that big TV or the solid cherry armoir would not be in my best interest.
I have a lot of furniture that I need to get rid of soon. I have a couple of those cheapo entertainment centers, a decrepit recliner, and a bunch of old end-tables and lamps. I may do a yard sale and if they don't sell leave them outside with a FREE sign. That worked in the past and the old freezer disappeared overnight.
Our kitchen island was delivered today and now the kitchen/dining room area is complete. We installed hardwood floors, got a new pub dining room table set, a new island with two stools, and a new refrigerator. It looks great and it is exactly what we wanted.
PW's cousin got married on Saturday and we traveled to the Scranton area for the wedding. The wedding was awesome but there were some things of note (good and bad) that I'm going to list here:
- Restaurants still allow smoking in PA!!! There is nothing worse than smelling that when you're searching for breakfast instead.
- Kudos to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant...no smoking in the entire place!
- Waitress asked PW if she wanted "dippy eggs" which is what we called a fried egg when we were kids in Philadelphia.
- We were told that we were a cute couple.
- PW's mom said that we were 'all over each other' and wanted to know if it was the three glasses of wine that PW had...umm...no, we're pretty much like that all the time. ;-)
I no sooner wrote that lest entry than he asked me if I was going to do the living room any time soon. He quoted a price that is about half of what I'd have gotten from HD to do the job.
We'll see...I'll probably at least have HD bid it and then we'll make our decision. I also may give the other home improvement place a shot to see if they're more competitive price-wise.
We're having hardwood floors installed in our dining room/kitchen/hallway area. The installation company sent one man and he only works until about 2:15 every day. This is our fourth day of having our dining room in the living room, no kitchen to cook out of, and the inconvenience of having him here working in our home.
Turns out that he has kids that he has to get off the bus. I can understand that but what really bugs me is when he goes outside when his phone rings to chat for 20-30 minutes.
I want to get the living room done next but I won't have it done if he's the only installer in this area for Home Depot.
That all being said, it is going to look awesome. I have some before pictures and will take some after when it is all done.
Well, well, well...I've been busy, if you couldn't tell by my lack of writing for a spell. I didn't mean to make this rhyme, only wanted to say 'no time' and that, not to be corny or anything, I hope you're fine.
Anyway...I spent last week in Nashville...yeah, the one in Tennessee. The company I work for had their annual conference at that location and I had a great time. It was hard being away from my pretty, sweet, smart and all around wonderful wife for that long but other than that it was good. I got to see co-workers that I only talk to on the phone and haven't seen in person since last year's conference.
I tried something different this time...I didn't get trashed and spend one of the days hoping that my stomach would come up during the dry heaves so I didn't have to puke any more. I had a few beers and a few glasses of wine but didn't stay out later than 11pm any night other than the last one when the regional dinner lasted until midnight.
I also went to the spa and enjoyed a facial and hot-stone massage one of the evenings which was a WAY better use of my money than all the test tube shots I bought last year in New Orleans.
I came home refreshed and ready to enjoy life again with PW without any feelings of guilt or regret from my trip...it doesn't get much better than that.
