How does his garden grow or Not organically.

DSCN1843_1.JPG

I purchased some tomato plants from an organic farmer at the Portsmouth Farmer's Market. I brought them home and replanted them in pots of soil that I had from a similar project last year.

The soil...well, it is Miracle Grow potting soil so I think I've broken the organic farmer's pledge. However, the plants are growing well, flowering like crazy, and I'm going to have me some yummy Black Krim and Pink Beauties to enjoy this summer!

Heard in passing or Who knew that could happen.

We were driving out to Manchester, NH to attend a nephew's high school graduation when we had to go through a stoplight. We were in the left-hand turn/go straight lane and the person next to us was in the go straight only lane. Just as I was almost through the intersection the woman in the other lane decided to turn.

I caught the movement of her car out of the corner of my eye and whipped my wheel around barely in time to avoid hitting the side of her car.

My new 7-year-old son's reaction: Oh my God! That scared my legs!

Happy Father's Day or What's in it for me.

I had an awesome Father's Day. It included breakfast (I only paid the tip), a trip to Ruggles Mine and dinner on the way home at a diner. It also included several stops for gasoline so that my kids didn't go home with empty gas tanks after the two hour (each way) trip to the mine.

I received a clever gift from Middle and Youngest Daughters that includes admission to the next Harry Potter movie, a pineapple plant from Oldest Daughter and a gift card to by the next Harry Potter novel, and a selection of songs from Vivaldi's Four Season on CD from Son.

When we were at the mine the helpful guide there gave me a huge chunk of rose quartz and said that I could break it up into chunks for all of my daughters. I broke up the rock and then we sifted and chipped at others to find small garnets, pieces of pyrite, mica, and other cool rock type things.

PW came up to me and told me that the guy had given her a chunk of rock that had a garnet in it and then a few minutes later the guy gave on to Middle Daughter after telling her that he had given one to "her sister". I guess PW looks young enough to be one of my daughters.

I wonder what he thought when we he saw me and PW engaged in a kiss after looking out over the beautiful view from the mines. :)

So there you go or Time goes on.

Princess Middle Daughter graduated on Friday. It seems like only yesterday she was boarding the kindergarten bus for the first time and now she'll be heading off to the university in the fall.

But, she still wants to wait in line with me to see THE movie and we have plans for an all night reading party when THE LAST BOOK arrives in our local store.

My day bitch or Cold weather foot warmer.

PW's dog has moved right in and made herself at home. She sleeps in our room at night so that the cats can emerge from the basement and prowl the house. I also tend to leave her outside during much of the day when I'm home so that Fizban can visit with me.

It is official or a beautiful day!

PF is now my PW.

We had a small ceremony on the beach with only my three daughters and Good Friend with Two Kids in attendance.

The weather cleared as we headed for the beach and it was absolutely beautiful. The beauty of the day was only eclipsed by that of my bride.
