YD has now entered a long term, 6-9+ months, adolescent rehab facility. She finally moved there after a month+ long stay at the New Hampshire Hospital because of a psychosis she may or may not have developed because of the substantial substance abuse in her life.
Pot and alcohol, it turns out, were the tip of the iceberg. She listed drugs to her counselors, and then to me, that sounded like the list you'd get from an inner-city kid: pot, alcohol, coke, opium, liquid opium, different pills, 'shrooms, and possibly acid in the last batch of pot that she smoke. She also smoked something that is not illegal but gives you really bad trips.
Anyway, she's in a place now that will help her come to terms with her addictions and give her the tools to resist falling back into them again. She'll also receive counseling on her personal life and then there will be family counseling too. God knows that we need it. She did so many mean and hateful things in the pursuit of her next high. Even though she was sick it is hard to act like nothing happened and think about her ever living here again. She's been 'coded' for schooling purposes and will hopefully get back on track with that part of her life too.
On another note...two of the three cats passed away recently and we were happy being a one cat, one dog family. And then we saw Lucy staring up at us and ended up bringing home an adorable, blue-eyed Snowshoe kitten.
