One year...

As much as I find it hard to believe that Mary is gone I find it even harder to believe that she's been gone for a year.

We're spending the day doing things that she enjoyed doing. We had breakfast at Young's and tonight we'll go to Newick's for a lobster dinner. We'll put flowers on her grave this afternoon once the girls get out of school.

It is a tribute to her impact on our lives that we are spending the day as a celebration of that life and not only grieving for her loss.

This is a picture of Mary while on a catamaran tour in Kauai back in January 2004. Eight months later we found out she had cancer and two years later she was terminal and two months away from dying. If there's anything that Mary would want you to take away from this it is that life is short, so don't wait to live it. Hug and kiss those that you love and tell them that you love them today.

I bet Mary would be very proud of you all.

I'm not sure why she let you out in public in those shorts though!

Antipo - Those are swim trunks. :) The end of the tour featured a stop for snorkeling at a coral reef.

I love the shorts! And I also love how Mary's shirt says "Positive Attitude" I bet she'd be proud of you for how you're living your life! I'm so happy that in the year that has passed you've found love again! You deserve it!

Thanks for the reminder that each day is a gift. Your post also reminds me that we can survive our darkest of days, even when in the moment, we are sure we can't.
