When you look out your window or Petting zoo is open!

Youngest Daughter yelled up from her lair in the basement, "There's a deer in the back yard!" I looked outside and sure enough, there wasn't just one deer there was two!

I took some pictures but since I was going through the glass and screen they didn't come out all that snazzy. Still, those deer grazed in our backyard for around 30 minutes, in daylight, and only about 30-50 feet from our home.

This is Princess Fizban enjoying a nap on my desk. Youngest Daughter draped this blankie over her and Fizban didn't seem to mind at all.

the deer are pretty smart this time of year. they know to hang out in the places that hunters can't get them...close to houses.

Heidi - True, though I just read the regulations online and found that you only have to be 300 feet from a house!

Antipo - How many stags does it take to make a party? :)

wow you're so lucky to get deer in your garden - the only thing I get in mine is hedgehogs and then the buggers poop all over it.

there was a deer in our backyard one day - I could not believe it! We live about one block from a major shopping center and the 'main drag' of bumfuck nowhere, which is a four-lane road. I don't know where the hell the poor thing came from!!

Isn't it great that we never lose that sense of awe? My family lives on seven acres out in the woods and I never tire of watching the deer wander around their "front yard".
