Scaredy cat or when Bad things happen to good cats.

Buddy, our scaredy cat, just had something happen to him that scared him and the other cats to death but still ended up being pretty funny to me.

He was sitting in the front window watching the leaves fall and chipmunks scamper through the yard. I don't know if something startled him or if he was simply jumping down, but his back foot snagged the cord for the blinds. He must have thought that something had him and bolted away from the window in the direction of my office.

The cord reached its limit and he pulled the blinds off of the window and they crashed to the floor. Fizban, at another window in my office jumps down and looks at Buddy like he's lost his mind as he ran towards my office, blinds in tow.

The look of abject terror on his face was awful and funny at the same time. He kept coming, blinds clattering with evil intent behind him, until he ran into the wall on the opposite of my office. Trapped, nowhere left to go, and then *I* got up to help him.

He scrambled and suddenly his foot was free of the cord so that he could flee my evil presence. I don't know where he is...I'm sure he'll stay out of sight until Beautiful Wife gets home.

I had to be the one years ago that dragged him from under a bed so that he could get medicine and he's never forgiven me. He slinks past me if we pass on the stairs, belly to the ground, and bolts from any room if I approach him at all.

Too funny! I'm sure Buddy thinks you're to blame for the whole escapade!
Love your photostream! Your flowers are gorgeous! We have hydrangeas all over our yard, too, but ours are blue and bloom much earlier. They're now dry and kind of a burgundy color.
The spider photo is awesome!

I'm sure he thought he was being pursued by the devil himself and then you appeared. Poor kitty. But quite funny if you ask me.

ha! too bad about the blinds, but when cats get jumpy, it's just hysterical! anytime there's anything new in the room, my one cat acts like a total spaz. He'll come in all jumpy and walk over to it slowly to sniff it. If I go, "Boo!" he'll jump up three feet into the air. good times. lol!

what a beautiful kitty!

Alison - I'm sure you're right...he's totally blaming me. I'm glad you like the flowers. I'd love to have bushes like that all over the yard some day, especially some different colors like the blues that you have.

Kari - To Buddy...I am the devil. :)

Dawn - One of our other cats, Storm, is like that. He'll slowly approach something and if you make the slightest noise he jumps, and then tries to act all cool.

Christie - Thanks! He's a chicken, but he does take great care of his fur and is always cleaning himself.

I am pretty certain I would have laughed so hard I would have peed my pants.

Katy - It really was that funny, and has gotten funnier to me as I've told it to others.

How many cats do you have?? Have you ever tied a sock around their waist? It's pretty funny.. although pretty mean, and I guess that's why I have no cats.. I'm sure if you did that to Buddy, it would bring you two closer! :)

OMG, your story reminded me of when my son was a toddler and had the heck scared out of him the first time he heard our VERY LOUD doorbell. He ran around in circles on the spot, in terror, not knowing how to get away from the scary noise. I'm ashamed to say I laughed until my guts hurt! I'm also ashamed to say I still laugh when I think about it 9 years later...

LOL - Poor kitty

Xianfern - We have three cats: Storm, Buddy, and Fizban. Tying a sock around their waist...I can imagine that they'd freak and I'd definitely be off of their Christmas card lists!

Antipo - There are things like that that happen and you can't help but laugh. I probably would have waited for him to calm down and then did it again to show my wife what happens. ;)

Karen - Definitely didn't make a happy day for him. He didn't show up downstairs again until later that night.

Our cat got blasted in the face by skunk spray earlier this morning. He was not too happy about it.....

Granite - Your poor cat! All of our cats are indoors only cats so that's not an issue for us.

lol! my cat is acting that way again with the guitar in the house. he's mesmerized by it. he walks over to it all slow and cool and then we clap and make him jump out of his skin - we're so mean. :) but it's good entertainment!!

Dawn - It's the whole 'slow and cool' thing that makes it so much fun to startle them. LOL
