Youngest Daughter had a stomach ache the other night.
Me: Are you going to gack?
Her: NO!
Me: Where does it hurt?
Her: I have a stomach ache, leave me alone!
Me: Make sure you run to the bathroom if you're going to gack.
Turns out that she was having those pains associated with the monthly affliction and this was her first time. Beautiful Wife clued me in next morning with many warnings to say nothing because she'd been sworn to secrecy. Imagine, Youngest Daughter thinks I'll tease her if I find out she's having her first period.
Sheesh!
On the plus side...now that Oldest Daughter is gone we have two daughters getting ready in the morning and we have two bathrooms too! No more fights over who showers first or who needs to brush their teeth next. Sweet!
Posted by bbarton at September 1, 2005 03:31 PMIf you were really up there and new age you'd be having a party for her to celebrate - I know someone who did. But she was a mad Californian. Into God as Mother and all that jazz. Anyway poor daughter has got it all now. Something to be said for being a past it Granny.
Posted by: grannyp on September 2, 2005 04:46 AMYou think you've got it bad - My poor husband has to live with me, our three daughters and even the cat is female - infact the only male company he gets is from the rabit - I've suggested he should move into the hutch with the rabit but he wasn't very impressed....
Posted by: Karen on September 2, 2005 06:34 AMAshley - Well, until she finds my blog I'm safe!
Grannyp - A party?!?!!? LOL I can just imagine.
Karen - Up until three weeks ago it was me, my wife, three teenaged daughters, a female cat, and two fixed male cats. I would have welcomed the chance to move outside for a bit but I didn't get it. ;)
Posted by: Bob on September 2, 2005 09:26 AMI *wish* my mom had sworn my dad to secrecy. I still shudder when I think back to this moment w/me and my dad. The day I started my period I BEGGED my mom to not tell my dad, she promised me she would not. The next morning as I ate my cereal my dad blurted out, "So I hear you became a woman yesterday" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS MOM!
Posted by: leigh on September 3, 2005 10:57 AMI was so excited when I got my period, I didn't care if the WHOLE WORLD knew! I thought it was the coolest thing - I was finally a woman! Of course, now its novelty has well worn off. ;)
Posted by: Dawn (webmiztris) on September 3, 2005 05:23 PMLeigh - One of those magic moments that should have been caught on a video camera. LOL
Dawn - Funny..girls become women and get their period...boys become men and have wet dreams...I think we get the better end of the deal on that one. ;)
Posted by: Bob on September 4, 2005 11:00 AMIt's so great being a girl....ew
