Conference call etiquette or Since we're talking about manners.

If you're on a conference call and you don't have anything to say please mute your phone!

There's nothing more distracting and irritating than listening to kids scream, dogs bark, coughing, or someone blowing their nose.

If you preface your question by saying that it is dumb, it probably is and you should not ask it.

If you say it is going to be a quick question, make it that way.

If you keep asking questions you should know that everyone, everywhere, is rolling their eyes and sending emails to each other questioning your sanity and intellect.

Make sure it is a question and not a rambling dialog about what you think. Nobody cares and will go back to rolling their eyes and talking about you behind your back.

My boss is fond of muting his phone so he can talk while you talk...in case he disagrees.
