Son moved in with Girlfriend last weekend. She shares a good-sized how with her brother and his girlfriend, and one other guy. Girlfriend gave us her used twin bed with a nice headboard and footboard because Son has a queen size bed.
I was explaining the whole process of moving the bed into Girlfriend's room when the lightbulb flashed over Youngest Daughter's head...
"Wait a minute...they're sharing a bed?!?!?!!?"
Believe me when I tell you that the ?!?!?!!? does nothing to convey the incredulity that dominated Youngest Daughter's tone of voice when she finally figured this out.
Posted by bbarton at February 14, 2005 09:41 PMThere was no explaining to Youngest Daughter. She immediately picked up the phone, called her brother, and insisted that he live by the 10-inch rule or she was going to go over there and put a board between them in the bed. :)
She's been in "health" classes in the public school since 4th grade. She obviously knows that putting a board between two people will work and that if they have sex they'll use condoms.
It helps me sleep better at night knowing that our tax dollars are hard at work. ;)

So tell us, how does an hip father like yourself handle explaining this arrangement to Youngest Daughter?
