When you only have a little space or Keep the tail out of my way.
I bought a wireless mouse the other day and I like it. The receiver plugs into a USB port and it was easy to install. Prior to installing the wireless mouse I used the nubbin in the center of my keyboard to do mouse activities.
The WM is a pleasure to use and easier on my hand too.
Now I need to get a USB hub. I have the wireless mouse, a printer, a headset to use with the phone software on my laptop, and a PDA that all need a USB port, and I only have two on the laptop.

I picked up a couple of GE USB2 4-port hubs at BJs about 6 months ago. They were about $20 each and were worth it. They're very slim, so they'll fit nicely into a laptop case. They have an external power supply so you can use it if your USB devices need full-power or not use it if they don't (many cheap hubs don't have an external power source, so the power from the laptop port is divided up between the ports.)
