We have a fake tree or What were we thinking?

We have a beautiful tree that fits perfectly in our dining room in front of the windows. It was wonderfully decorated while we laughed and remembered other trees and other times decorating.

This is the first time we've ever had a fake tree. Most years we go to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own. Some years we settled for what we could find in one of the pre-cut Christmas tree lots. We liked going out and the search for the perfect tree while the kids tried to remember who's turn it was this year to pick one out.

We had wonderful memories doing that but do I ever wish we had gotten a fake tree before! We were forced into it this year because Beautiful Wife is allergic to pine and the last thing we needed was something like that in the house while she recovers from lung surgery.

I didn't have to go outside with a saw and try to trim the tree just right so it would fit in the base. I didn't have to lay under it and adjust the base so the tree looked straight. I didn't have to remind a kid to water it, end up doing it myself, and then watch the cats drink the water I just put into the base. It has been up for 3 days and there isn't a single pine needle on the carpet.

I'm not waxing nostalgic...believe me...I LOVE this fake tree! Plus, it is the best looking tree we've ever had! You can see it from the road and all you see are lights, ornaments, garland, and tree. You can't see me sitting at the kitchen table picking my nose through the gaps in the branches. Every side is a good side and it doesn't matter what direction it faces.

Charlie Brown can keep his tree! I've gone fake!
