Beautiful Wife has an appointment tomorrow to have a Pulmonary Fitness Test and then an appointment on Friday to have a CT scan of her head.
The fitness test will let the thoracic surgeon know how much lung capacity she has so that they know how much they can safely remove during surgery.
The CT scan of her head is truly one of those cases when you hope nothing shows up. If the melanoma on her leg is somehow related to the tumor in her lung chances are that it metastasized and the brain is a popular place for it to go.
Tumors in her brain may negate the need for lung surgery and result in the start of chemo and radiation instead.
I went to the bookstore the other day and bought a Chicken Soup book for surviving cancer, how to deal with children when the parent has cancer, and a big book about cancer and various treatments. All three books are pretty much guaranteed to make you cry at one point or another.
Thanks, Ashley. It is a great site and I appreciate you sending info about it my way.
Posted by: Bob on November 4, 2004 11:29 AMDid you check it out? I sometimes end up there late at night when I can't sleep because of some frustrating health news, or when I have a question that even the docs can't answer. Sometimes I ask questions and sometimes I just sit there and "listen".

Don't know if this is the type of thing that interests you, but the American Cancer Society has an amazing website for both patients and caregivers. There are discussion boards where you can post questions, tons of information, staff people you can call to ask random questions about anything, and a chat room open 24 hours where you can stop by to ask questions "live" to fellow patients and caregivers, or to just sit back and listen.
The website is www.cancer.org. Been there, and found it useful.
Don't know if that helps any.
