Visitor from Japan or What karate guys do when they hang out.

I'm on several Yahoo Groups dealing with karate. Originally, I started on a Listserv out of the University of FL that was totally dedicated to the style I study, Isshinryu. That list ended when the owner graduated but by then Yahoo had started offering the ability to make groups as easy as email and soon a whole bunch of them appeared.

One of the regular posters is Joe Swift. He's currently a translator that lives in Tokyo with his wife. She teaches belly dancing. He translates and has a new dojo with 5-9 students.

He's in the States visiting and stopped by the home of another of the list regulars that lives in Derry. We got together with him and about about 10 other people to meet in person and share some of our style.

It was interesting to see the same kata done by a person from another style or lineage and see the differences and similarities. It was also fun to see something entirely new.

Son and I were the newest black belts there and we've been studying this style for over 7 years. We both agreed that we have a lot more to learn.
