A Blonde Friend was talking about the problem she recently had with her dog.
When Oldest Son was around a year old we got a "puppy" which turned out to be a full grown german shepherd. The down side is that the dog had been abused and couldn't stand to have someone touch its back or neck. Oldest Son was starting to stand and walk and grabbed the dog in order to stand up. The dog went to bite him and I got my hand in the way just in time. I grabbed the dog, put her in the car, and went to the vet to have her put to sleep. I had spent a month or so trying to win her confidence and retrain her but to no avail. Every once in a while I'll think about that dog and wish it could have been different. She was a sweet dog as long as you didn't touch her back or neck.
